Due to the replacement and repairs needed for the aging underground utility infrastructure located along 100 block of East Lake Street in the City of Horicon, a detour of street traffic will be necessary for the next weeks. The detour is planned for over two months’ time duration, starting Monday, March 29, 2021, and tentatively ending on Monday, June 14, 2021. Depending on weather experienced and work progress is achieved, it is possible to detour times would need to be modified.

This planned detour will require area motorists to use alternate travel paths other than those normally using the Lake Street bridge. The detour will not allow for any through traffic on East Lake Street (CTH “E”), between the Vine Street (STH 33) and Larrabee Street locations in the City. Local access for area residents and businesses can only be allowed up to the extent established by the detour. See above map showing:

  • Motorist traveling the City via CTH “E” (East Lake Street) westward will be detoured at the intersection of STH 33 and CTH “E”, to then travel further southward and westward via Vine, Barstow, and Washington Streets (STH 33) to Clinton Street, and, to then travel northward via Clinton Street to arrive back to CTH “E” on the detour route. Use of the intermediate Larrabee, Kansas, and Nebraska Streets from STH 33 in the City (in lieu of Clinton Street) will only be permitted to area Residents.
  • Motorist that otherwise travel the City via CTH “E” (West Lake Street) eastward will be detoured from CTH “E” at Clinton Street intersection southward, and thereafter directed onto Washington, Barstow, and Vine Streets eastward and northward, in order to arrive back to STH 33 via the detour route. Use of West Lake Street east of Clinton Street in the City will only be permitted to area Residents for access to Nebraska, Juneau, Kansas, and Chestnut Streets.

The City of Horicon will remove this detour inconvenience as soon as possible upon completion of the construction roadway repair resurfacing.  Please feel free to contact the City of Horicon Public Works Department (920) 485-3540 if special access or any other additional provisions will be requested for this detour.
