As of today, all main line concrete paving on W. Lake Street from the railroad tracks to Industrial Drive has been completed along with a majority of the pavement marking. The remaining portion of the Industrial Park intersection to be paved will be completed next week (week of 9/17). Pavement patching at the Clinton Street intersection and the associated driveways along the project is starting today and should be completed by Monday (9/17).
Excavation work on the Phase 2 portion of W. Lake Street will begin on Monday (9/17) starting at the west side of the intersection of Larabee Street and W. Lake Street. The intersection of Larabee and W. Lake Street will remain open and will be one of the last areas to be completed as part of this project. W. Lake Street will be shut down to thru traffic immediately west of this intersection beginning on Monday morning (9/17) and will also be shut just east of the Clinton Street intersection. This means Industrial Park related traffic will not be required to use Clinton Street to either get to or from the Industrial Park. CTH E is going to remain closed to thru traffic as there is some grading and fill work that remains to be completed on the north side of the road way. Following the completion of this grading and fill work, W. Lake street will be opened to thru traffic from the western City limits to Clinton Street.
In Summary, Monday morning (9/17), W. Lake Street will be closed to traffic just west of the Larabee Street intersection and just east of the Clinton Street intersection, as excavation work will be starting just west of Larabee Street. Industrial Park related traffic will need to utilize Clinton Street for access to and from the Industrial Park. While most of the work has been completed on W. Lake Street from Clinton Street to Industrial Drive, there is some work that remains, including the final pour on the Industrial Drive intersection next week.
